The City of Logan Charitable Trust is thrilled to deliver $65,150 to support seven diverse and ambitious projects run by local Logan charities for local community projects.
The latest grant round open during May 2024 set a record for the number of applications received by the Trust in a single round and sees a continued focus on supporting projects to uplift families and youth.
The Trust strives to support as many charities as possible and in this round 50% of applications were allocated funding in what was a highly competitive round.
Nearly 40% of the funding will support projects aimed at getting food on the table for Logan’s most vulnerable families, more than 30% will go towards projects supporting improved education outcomes for our kids and the remainder will fund projects supporting children in care and families in domestic violence situations.
“We are excited to be backing a diverse range of projects within our community including projects that support First Nations children,” said Sohana Maharaj, Chair of the City of Logan Charitable Trust.
“Although we were unable to support all applications in this grant round, the Trust is looking to increase our fundraising efforts to boost future investment in Logan’s youth and families in future rounds.”

May 2024 Grant Round Allocation

The May 2024 Grant Rounds applications were evaluated based on the City of Logan Charitable Trust (the Trust) internal grant guidelines and mandatory criteria. The applications were also assessed against the secondary assessment criteria, which includes community need, proposed solution, organizational experience, outcomes and measurement, and collaboration.
The Grant and Community Engagement Committee (GCEC) reviewed and evaluated 14 grant applications, the most applications the Trust has ever received in one round. The GCEC made recommendations to the Trust Board based on the merits of each application, in accordance with the Trust’s Grant Management Framework and prioritised programs which provided immediate beneficial impact in the City of Logan. The Trust strives to support as many charities as possible and in this round, 50% of applications were allocated funding. A total of $65,150 was allocated across seven charities.
Approved Grant Applications
- Serving Our People Inc: $5,000 allocated for the free food supermarket initiative.
- Eagleby Community Association: $10,000 allocated for supermarket food vouchers.
- Christmas Presents for Kids in Care Ltd: $10,000 allocated for Operation Backpack.
- Eat Up Australia Limited: $10,000 allocated for cheese and fruit for children’s lunches in schools.
- Friends with Dignity Limited: $9,800 allocated for three domestic violence sanctuary programs.
- Oz Harvest Limited: $10,350 allocated for three NEST (Nutrition Education Skills Training) program to potentially 75 individuals.
- EM Power Foundation Limited: $10,000 allocated for the education program for First Nation students on native plants & sustainability and potential food sources.
Unsuccessful Grant Applications
Seven applicants were unsuccessful, however they have been encouraged to review their applications in accordance with the Trust’s Grant Guidelines and apply again in future grant rounds. The total grant applications exceeded the funds available 6-fold which demonstrates the level of need for the Trust’s mission.
