The Trust granted $30,000 to Open Haven Ltd to fund the transition of a pilot program from July to November 2023, into a longer-term operation within Logan. A venue, staff and volunteers were identified and a service network established in Logan. With the support of the Trust, Open Haven embedded the learnings from their pilot program, established measures and tracked impact, but most importantly improved the lives of women and the families for the long term. During this time Open Haven grew their funding base in the Logan region to ensure the long-term viability of the Restoration Hub in Logan. Some of the outcomes included: 76 women supported for the longer term to thrive in the City of Logan and on schedule to support 200, 28 women with improved housing outcomes, 4 women with improved employment outcomes, and 39 women with improved access to government services.
The Trust granted $33,572 in November 2023 to extend the program. The service is providing support to survivors of domestic and family violence in the City of Logan, however, the demand for service has been greater than expected, and it has been identified that there is a growing need to provide specific services to support the children from these families. This grant will allow Open Haven to support additional women in Logan and pilot a new service to their children. The objectives for this program include: increase support from 200 to 250 women for the longer term to thrive in the City of Logan • Provide mental health support to 6 children over 6 months • Increased school attendance • Reduced risk of self harm • Improved access to government services • Improved employment outcomes 20+ women to gain employment • Improved independence 10+ women obtain driver’s license • Increased women in longer term housing (20+) .

Open Haven supports women & families who have experienced domestic violence with three types of services: 1.) Direct Services – Open House – Restoration Plans – Employment Support – Transportation – Social Services Navigation – Restoration Hampers 2). Managed Services – Driving Lessons – English Lessons – Meals 3). Referral Services – Housing Support – Financial Support – Legal Support – Visa Support – Mental Health Support – Clothing and Furniture. To achieve this, Open Haven provides a safe environment for women to access the necessary assistance. Open Haven’s goal is to ensure the women (and families) are empowered to become self-sufficient and strong enough to encourage others in similar situations
